Slimming World members from Woking, Guildford & surrounding areas joined this year’s Race for Life, proudly sponsored by Slimming World, raising over £17,700 for Cancer Research UK.

Their efforts contributed to the £25 million Slimming World has raised nationally since 2013. More than 80 members, friends and family braved the rain at Stoke Park, taking on 5K, 10K and Pretty Muddy challenges.

Participants ranged from 7 to over 80 years old, showing it’s never too early — or too late — to make a difference.

“Dave and I take part because so many people we love have been affected by cancer or have sadly passed away,” said one member. “Taking part in an event that brings people together during some of the hardest times in their lives shows how much we care and stand together as a community. It raises awareness and vital funds – and that’s so important to help stop cancer in its tracks.”

Another member shared, “Having lost loved ones to cancer, including my mum, cancer charities have always meant a lot to me. I was determined to take part and finish, no matter how long it took. I’m proud to have been part of such a meaningful cause—and to know my contribution made a difference.”

Slimming World Consultants supported participants through the organisation’s Body Magic programme, designed to help members build confidence and fitness in everyday life.

For these inspiring Race for Life participants, the finish line meant more than just completing a race – it symbolised hope, strength, and a collective commitment to a cause that touches so many.

“I lost my brother to cancer when he was 19 and 20 years later, lost my mum to breast cancer. The week before this year’s Race for Life an old friend of mine died suddenly after a late diagnosis of cancer. This awful disease impacts so many people and raising funds for Cancer Research by taking part in the Race for Life is my way of remembering the people who were special to me. Being part of the event alongside hundreds of others doing the same is humbling – being part of the Slimming World group this year was emotional but a whole lot of fun as well. Sign me up for next year!!”
