The Very Reverend Bob Cooper installed as Dean of Guildford
Guildford Cathedral is delighted to announce the installation of The Very Reverend Bob Cooper, known as Bob, as the new Dean of Guildford.

The Installation Service took place on Sunday, 26 January 2025, in the presence of clergy, dignitaries, and members of the wider community.
The ceremony was a momentous occasion for the Cathedral, marking the beginning of Bob’s leadership at a pivotal time for the community. The service presided over by The Right Reverend Andrew Watson, Bishop of Guildford, included traditional liturgy, magnificent music from the Cathedral Choir and brass septet Septura, and a warm welcome from representatives of local civic and faith groups.
Bob brings a wealth of experience to Guildford Cathedral, having previously served as the Archdeacon of Sunderland, where he was instrumental in fostering community engagement and championing key outreach initiatives. His vision for Guildford Cathedral focuses on deepening its role as a beacon of worship, heritage, and community service.
Guildford Cathedral invites everyone to join them in welcoming Bob and to participate in upcoming events and services as they embark on this new journey together.

As Dean, Bob will oversee the Cathedral’s worship, operations, and ongoing efforts to serve as a place of solace and inspiration for all.
